It is with heavy hearts, yet with the hope and assurance of our faith, that we announce the passing of our beloved colleague and friend, Billy Burrell. He was 96 years old. Billy began working with us on July 8, 1959, and faithfully served until his retirement on July 4, 2022. Through his morning devotion, “Sunshine Melodies,” Billy shared a message of hope, faith, and encouragement that reached far beyond what he could ever have known. Through his witness and his exhortations, lives were changed, hearts were encouraged, and people were drawn closer to the Lord. Today, we can only imagine the joy Billy experienced as he met his Savior in person and discovered, just how many lives had been changed through his faithful witness. The seeds he planted, the words he spoke, and the love he shared made a difference in more lives than he could ever have imagined. For countless children, Billy’s voice was especially important on snowy mornings. When the snow came, kids would listen closely to find out the answer to one very important question: “Is there going to be school today?” Billy’s voice became part of those childhood memories that many will carry for the rest of their lives. Also, don’t forget his stories, his humor, it’s time to WAKE UP, Crazy Crow, and the most important thing, every morning the one thing that Billy would always do was to open the barn door and let the animals out.
